The first course in the UK to be successfully peer reviewed in October 2020, it was then revalidated in February 2024. This course is currently only open to NELETN staff.
In October 2025, the course was reviewed once again from a paediatric perspective, and was found to be compliant with the requirement - becoming the first level 2 paediatric course available locally in the UK.
TThe Wessex TALS course, which was peer reviewed in October 2023, is run over 2 days and follows an ALS-style format, with a pre-course manual, lectures, a faculty demonstration, workshops and simulations.
Reviewers praised the Peninsula's multimodal approach to learning, with candidates reviewing podcasts and reflecting on their learning prior to attending a skills day. The course was successfully peer reviewed in October 2023.

The ATNC is a 3-day course for registered nurses, paramedics and ODPs. It follows the patient journey from preparing for their arrival, through the resuscitation phase of their care. ATNC was peer reviewed in January 2024. Review the peer review certificate here.
The ETC course brings together all specialities regularly engaged in the initial reception of major trauma patients, to learn and teach together as a team. The course includes the technical and non technical skills required to optimise care of this group of patients. ETC was peer reviewed in September 2023 - review the peer review certificate here.
TNCC is a 2-Day intensive course that is taught by expert instructors designed to provide the registered nurse with relevant cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills to manage trauma patients in the resuscitation room. TNCC was peer reviewed in January 2024 - review the peer review certificate here.
APLS provides the knowledge and skills necessary for recognition, effective treatment and stabilisation of children with life threatening emergencies, using a structured, sequential approach. APLS was peer reviewed in March 2024 - review the peer review certificate here.
The first University module to be peer reviewed - this course contains up-to-date and recent, evidence-based material and data. Study material was engaging, encouraging critical thinking from Day One. This course was peer reviewed in June 2024 - review the peer review certificate here.

Reviewed in March 2025, the reviewers found the course to be unique in its delivery, with life like scenarios,
including actors throughout the SIMS.
The faculty on this particular course were knowledgeable and supportive, and there was clear oversight of the performance of attendee’s that was discussed by the faculty at several points throughout the course. Those identified as struggling were offered additional support and time, but ultimately if the standard was no achieved the individual was failed. There is a clear governance process for pass and fail. The instructor manual suggests that this standard of instructor is maintained across the
board.
This Emergency Trauma Care Course has been designed for registered nurses working in Major Trauma Centres and Trauma Units. A range of traumatic injuries, contemporary and emerging evidence-based practices and related subject areas are explored. The course runs over four months using a blended learning approach with the teaching content being online with two face to face onsite days.
Reviewed in April 2026, this course was praised for its excellent online resources, facilities and equipment. Provision of bi-weekly online check-ins for candidates with lead faculty during the online learning period was appreciated. Candidates felt reassured that they had an avenue to raise questions and ask for support.
The European Trauma Course (ETC) is a leading international trauma course for doctors, nurses, and other professionals involved in the initial management of major trauma sharing evidence-based practice.
As a Trauma Support Practitioner (TSP)—a role encompassing nurses, ODPs and paramedics—you are a key member of the trauma team. Over two and a half days, you will take part in realistic, team-based simulations, working within your usual scope of practice and, crucially, being yourself.
Scenarios use role cards, simulated casualties and monitoring, with minimal instructor intervention during the simulation unless an instructor is taking part as a member of the trauma team. This allows the team to manage the patient as they would in real life and for team dynamics to be realistic and a point of discussion and learning. Every scenario is followed by a structured debrief where everyone's contribution is valued.
Some scenarios have specific learning objectives for candidates and TSPs, but teamworking, human factors and communication underpin the entire course.
ETC is deliberately a mature, open and non-dogmatic course. We recognise that participants bring valuable experience and knowledge with them from different systems. Open discussion, challenge and sharing of different perspectives are actively encouraged, with international faculty bringing a wealth of expertise from different healthcare systems and trauma environments.
For TSPs, assessment is through continuous observation and feedback, supported by your mentor throughout the course.
